When a modern home near Redditch needed a driveway gate to match a crisp, contemporary frontage — white rendered walls, clean lines, no fuss — an off-the-shelf gate was never going to sit right. This is a project where the gate had to look like it was designed with the house, not bolted on afterwards. It’s exactly the kind of made-to-measure work we do best.

The brief

The driveway opens straight off a suburban road with limited room to swing a pair of gates back onto the drive — so a sliding gate was the natural answer: it runs along the boundary line instead of arcing inward, keeping every inch of the driveway usable. The owners wanted something unmistakably modern, in a colour that would read as part of the architecture rather than an add-on, and they wanted the boundary treated as a whole — gate, screens and pedestrian access all speaking the same language.

The design

We designed the gate in aluminium, powder-coated anthracite grey to tie into the window frames and coping. The face uses a horizontal-slat pattern with a deliberate rhythm — closer-spaced bars that open up as they rise — giving privacy at eye level while keeping the whole gate feeling light rather than solid. The same slat design carries across into the fixed boundary screens either side and the matching pedestrian gate, so the frontage reads as one considered piece of work.

Aluminium was the right material here for three reasons: it won’t rust, it’s light enough to slide smoothly and automate reliably, and a quality powder-coat holds that anthracite finish for years without repainting — a low-maintenance choice for a low-fuss modern home.

The build and install

Every part of this was made under one roof at our workshop near Droitwich — the metalwork, the finish, and the automation. We design, fabricate, wire and commission in-house, which is how the gate, the screens and the pedestrian gate all match exactly rather than being sourced from different places.

On site, the gate was set to run cleanly along the boundary and automated for open-at-the-touch-of-a-button access, installed to Gate Safe standards with the safety features that keep an automated gate safe around a family and vehicles.

The result

A driveway entrance that looks like it belongs to the house — contemporary, private without feeling closed-in, and built to keep its finish and its smooth running for the long term. It’s a good example of what “bespoke” actually means for us: not a catalogue gate in your choice of colour, but a gate, screens and pedestrian access designed together for one specific frontage.
